On average, Ukrainian forces are destroying Russian troops at a ratio of 1 to 50, according to Ukrainian military statements. After the remark, soldiers poured an entire crate of Russian military IDs onto a table behind the commander of the 63rd Brigade.
Ukrainian troops say Russia’s war machine is gradually running out of steam. They argue that Moscow’s ability to replenish manpower no longer matches the scale of its losses, while casualties sustained during recent offensives have been enormous.
Speaking on Expresso TV, Pavlo Yurchuk, commander of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, cited an exceptionally high loss ratio on his sector of the front. He said Ukrainian forces are eliminating the enemy at roughly 1 to 50 on average. The officer stressed he can back up the claim with statistics and factual materials, including documented evidence of Russian losses and the unit’s combat results.
Classical military doctrine holds that an attacking force typically suffers about three-to-one losses on the main axis of advance.
The statement drew particular attention given the brigade’s reputation and the effectiveness of its drone units. Drones and modern reconnaissance tools, the military says, are increasingly shaping battlefield dynamics.
Earlier, other Ukrainian commanders and defense officials cited more conservative, yet still heavy, loss ratios for Russia. Andriy Biletsky referenced estimates of 1 to 6–8, while Oleksandr Syrskyi spoke of a 1 to 6 ratio. Analysts note that exact figures vary by sector, the nature of fighting, and each unit’s level of technological capability.
