The European Union is continuing consultations with Kyiv over the Druzhba oil pipeline but is not demanding accelerated repairs or applying political pressure, officials said.
The EU is not pressing Ukraine to urgently restore the Druzhba pipeline and resume the transit of Russian oil, and no deadlines have been set for the Ukrainian side, European Commission spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen said, according to European Pravda.
Brussels remains in contact with Ukrainian authorities but is not imposing any timeline for repairs and is not asking Kyiv to speed up the work, Itkonen said. The Commission is only requesting information on expected timeframes for infrastructure restoration, she added, stressing that the EU’s position is unambiguous.
“Therefore in this case we are not pushing, not pressuring, there are no deadlines. That should be absolutely clear,” the EC spokesperson said.
EU officials also noted that throughout the full-scale war, Russia has repeatedly struck Ukraine’s energy infrastructure - even as it uses that infrastructure itself.
Itkonen said Kyiv continues to repair damaged facilities, showing significant effort with support from EU member states and institutions. These efforts have helped keep homes heated and hospitals and industry operating despite ongoing attacks.
