Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces launch southern operation to halt Russian advance

Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces have launched an operation in southern Ukraine, focusing on the Oleksandrivske axis spanning the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

The command says the main goals are to disrupt Russia’s plans to push deeper into Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia, defeat opposing forces and push them back beyond the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk region, according to a statement from the Air Assault Forces command.

“Despite the enemy’s active assault operations, Air Assault units are repelling all attacks and successfully conducting offensive actions. Overall, the situation can be described as highly dynamic,” the military said.

They added that Russian forces are trying to hold their positions using all available manpower and equipment. At the same time, Air Assault units are completing assigned tasks and “step by step are liberating their homeland.”

“Since the start of the operation, the Air Assault grouping, together with adjacent units, has restored control over more than 300 square kilometers of territory (cleared of enemy sabotage-and-reconnaissance groups) and over eight settlements. As the active phase continues, it’s somewhat premature to talk about final results,” the Ukrainian military said.
