Ukrainian Forces destroy Mi-8 and Ka-52 helicopters at Oryol airfield

Russia has lost two more helicopters. A multirole Mi-8 and an attack Ka-52 were destroyed by drones in the Oryol region.

On Friday evening, February 20, Ukrainian Defense Forces used strike drones to destroy two helicopters based at the Pugachevka airfield in Russia’s Oryol region, according to the Russian Telegram channel Dossier Shpiona.

The report says a multirole Mi-8, tail number 53, belonging to the 319th Separate Helicopter Regiment based in Chernigovka, Primorsky Krai, was destroyed.

An attack helicopter Ka-52 with tail number 18 belonged to the 16th Army Aviation Brigade located in Zernograd, Rostov region.

“The helicopters have been destroyed and cannot be restored,” the channel stated.

The outlet Militarnyi suggests Russian forces are using the small unpaved Pugachevka airfield, owned by a local flying club, as an operational site for a composite helicopter detachment tasked with intercepting Ukrainian long-range UAVs.

Earlier, Ukrainian Armed Forces drones destroyed a Russian Navy Ka-27 helicopter. The successful strike deprived Russia of military equipment valued at $1.5 million.

Overnight on February 21, Defense Forces struck two Project 22460 “Okhotnik” border patrol ships near the city of Inkerman in Crimea, and hit two Be-12 anti-submarine amphibious aircraft on the grounds of an aircraft repair plant in Yevpatoria. In addition, near the settlement of Astrakhanka in the Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian Defense Forces units struck a Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system.
