President Volodymyr Zelensky held a conference call on the situation in the regions after an overnight barrage of Russian missiles and drones, he said on Telegram.
“This time, the Russians targeted not only energy facilities but also logistics — in particular, railway infrastructure — and urban water-supply systems. We discussed in detail with regional representatives that protection against Russian strikes must be scaled up and quickly adjusted to changes in Russian tactics,” he wrote.
Zelensky said a church was damaged by a Russian strike in the Boryspil district of Kyiv region. Several other regions also reported damage to residential buildings. Assistance is being provided to victims wherever needed.
“I instructed Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense to deploy additional forces to protect the skies over Sumy region. The day before, in the Shostka district, a Russian drone struck an ambulance — a deliberate attack. Sadly, three people were killed. Russians must feel the consequences for every such strike, and in all border and frontline regions it must be evident that protection against Russian drones is increasing,” the president said.
In addition, Ukraine’s interior minister reported details of the investigation into the terror attack in Lviv.
“Not everything can be made public now. Several people have been detained, and all facts will be established as part of the necessary procedural work. Later, law enforcement will provide more information to the public,” Zelensky concluded.
Overnight on February 22, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 345 missiles and drones. The strikes primarily targeted critical infrastructure, and most hostile targets were intercepted by air defenses.
As a result of the attack in Kyiv region, one person was killed and at least five were injured. Damage and fires were recorded in five districts of the region.
