Three Russian soldiers surrender in Kupyansk after contacting Ukraine’s 'I Want to Live' project

Troops from the National Guard’s Khartia Corps established contact with Russian soldiers and carried out a special operation to extract the captives.

In the city of Kupyansk, three Russian servicemembers voluntarily surrendered after reaching out to the “I Want to Live” project, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War (KSHPPV) said.

“After receiving a request from the occupiers, specialists with the project contacted the National Guard of Ukraine’s Khartia Corps, which is clearing the city. Khartia fighters established contact with the Russians and conducted a special operation to extract the prisoners. The entire process - from phone communications to evacuation from the city - was recorded on video by National Guard personnel,” the statement said.

About 30 Russians remain in Kupyansk. Ukraine’s armed forces are not rushing to eliminate them to avoid unnecessary casualties among its troops.
