Ukraine fires ATACMS again, hitting Russian command post and depots in occupied territory

ATACMS ballistic missiles have been used on the front again. For the first time in a long while, Ukraine’s Missile Forces struck Russian targets on temporarily occupied territory, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.

These are among the most powerful long-range systems and had not featured in battlefield reports for some time. Their return suggests Ukraine has likely received an additional shipment of missiles.

The reintroduction of ATACMS reads as a highly sensitive blow to Russia’s command-and-logistics network. The missiles are designed to destroy high-value, well-protected targets at significant distances.

In wartime, such strikes directly undermine Russia’s offensive capabilities, which have already faced mounting challenges on the front.

Overnight on February 24, units of the Missile Forces and Artillery hit an auxiliary command post of Russia’s 5th Army near Novopetrivka in the Donetsk region. Simultaneous strikes targeted key elements of the enemy’s military infrastructure.

Targets included command posts, ammunition depots, logistics facilities and a repair base.

Ukrainian forces also destroyed a logistics warehouse belonging to a unit of the Rubikon center near Vasylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Additional strikes were reported on ammunition and logistics depots near Pryazovske and Oleksandrivka. A repair base was hit near Yakymivka. A day earlier, on February 23, Ukrainian forces attacked command-observation posts and UAV control points of Russian troops.
