Ukraine’s military says it blew up a large Russian drone depot in Russia’s Kursk region near the border with Ukraine’s Sumy region, destroying thousands of unmanned aerial vehicles, munitions and equipment.
The 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade said the site was identified on Russian territory close to the Sumy border. The unit said Russian forces regularly operate from the Kursk region against Ukraine’s border areas, making such facilities strategic targets.
Ukrainian forces said the warehouse held a significant number of drones, ammunition and related equipment, as well as light vehicles used by UAV crews. The strike triggered a large fire and effectively wiped out the supplies, they added.
Ptashka Drones, a manufacturer, estimated that as many as 10,000 Russian UAVs may have been stored at the facility. If confirmed, the losses would reduce Russia’s strike capacity along a key sector of the front, the company said.
Ukrainian officials said the attack used long-range drones with fiber‑optic links capable of operating up to 50 kilometers. Ptashka Drones said the technology complicates electronic-warfare defenses and improves targeting precision.
