Ukrainian Forces hold key villages north of Pokrovsk amid intensified Russian pressure

Ukraine’s Defense Forces are building additional logistics routes and mining roads and pathways used by Russian troops as fighting intensifies north of Pokrovsk.

Settlements in the Pokrovsk sector - including Sukhetsky, Suvorov, Nikanorivka and Novyi Donbas - remain under Ukrainian control and are not in the “gray zone,” said Maj. Hryhorii Shapoval, spokesperson for the East grouping of forces, according to Ukrinform.

“They are under the Defense Forces. The enemy is trying to apply pressure and strike with artillery and unmanned systems, but each of these settlements is not even in the ‘gray zone,’” Shapoval said.

Ukrainian units are conducting active operations to contain Russian advances on this stretch of the front. “The Defense Forces are carrying out search-and-strike actions to prevent further advances by the invaders, destroying vehicles used by enemy assault groups. These actions continue in the Pokrovsk agglomeration and its outskirts. The enemy persists with small infantry group tactics, which is critically depleting Russia’s manpower,” he added.

Shapoval said the settlements are located north of Pokrovsk, while Russian forces are trying to build up in the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration and increase pressure. Meanwhile, Ukraine is expanding logistics routes and mining roads and routes the enemy uses.

Background: Ukraine is scaling up the use of interceptor drones to counter Russian UAVs, now neutralizing roughly one in three Russian strike drones.
