Ukrainian ground robot ambush kills two Russian infantrymen on the Pokrovsk axis

Paratroopers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 7th Rapid Response Corps identified a Russian infantry route and set up an ambush.

On the Pokrovsk axis, a ground robotic system from Ukraine’s 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, positioned in a preplanned ambush, killed two Russian infantrymen, the unit said. Ukraine reported no losses in the operation.

The incident occurred in the 7th Rapid Response Corps’ area of responsibility within the Air Assault Forces. The unit said it had mapped the enemy’s movement route and established a fire trap using a remotely operated platform.

Using the ground drone enabled a pinpoint strike on Russian infantry while eliminating risk to Ukrainian troops. Operators controlled the system from a protected shelter — a new dimension in battlefield tactics, the military said.

Military officials note that ground robotic systems are becoming an increasingly visible factor on the battlefield, enabling strike and reconnaissance missions that previously required troops on the ground.

Similar incidents are being reported regularly. In January 2026, a Droid TW-7.62 system used by Ukrainian assault troops remotely took three Russian servicemen prisoner. Earlier, in November 2025, another ground robotic complex with a heavy machine gun disabled a Russian MT-LB, foiling an assault attempt.

Experts say large-scale adoption of such platforms is changing the character of combat. Russian units accustomed to traditional battle tactics are increasingly facing strikes that minimize the human factor.
