Zelensky: Russia failed to intercept any Flamingo missiles in strike on Votkinsk plant

All Flamingo missiles that Ukraine’s Defense Forces launched at the Russian plant in Votkinsk hit their target, demonstrating accuracy and high quality, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Speaking at a news conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Kyiv, Zelensky said Russian air defenses failed to intercept a single missile that was launched.

“Most importantly, all the missiles that were launched reached the facility. I believe that is the main success — we’re talking about high quality and precision,” Zelensky emphasized.

The President said Russian commanders are targeting plants that produce Flamingo missiles. As a result, Ukraine had to wait a long time to restore the production line.

He added that Ukraine plans to ramp up Flamingo production, but that depends on funding and the availability of components. More missiles would mean more strikes.

On February 14, Zelensky said Russian forces had attacked Flamingo missile production. The destroyed production line has since been relocated and production restored.

Ukraine used Flamingo missile in a strike on the Votkinsk machine-building plant in Udmurtia. The attack occurred overnight on February 20. OSINT analysts published footage of flashes and explosions in the city of Votkinsk, about 1,400 km from Ukraine. It turned out the facility manufactures Russia’s Iskander, Topol-M, Oreshnik and other missiles. Preliminary reports said two workshops were damaged. That same night, Shtilerman posted footage of Flamingo launches without specifying the targets.

On February 21, more details of the Flamingo strike were published online. The hit on two workshops was confirmed, along with reports of 11 injured, one in serious condition. The next day, the OSINT channel “Kiberboroshno” posted satellite images of the damage. The photos show a 30-by-24-meter hole in the roof of a Votkinsk plant workshop. It was also noted the galvanic-stamping workshop No. 19 may have been hit; on February 25 it emerged the site was workshop No. 22.

The previous use of Flamingo missiles against Russia was the attack on the Kapustin Yar range and a GRAU arsenal. Ukraine’s General Staff said that in January it carried out a strike on the range from which Russia had twice launched an Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile at Ukraine. On February 12, an FP-5 strike hit a GRAU site storing 150,000 tons of various Russian munitions, according to DeepState analysts.
