A breakthrough on the Oleksandrivka axis derailed plans by Russian units to advance, Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces said. Ukrainian paratroopers created conditions for further tactical gains.
A clip of the operation -in which Ukraine’s Armed Forces say they breached Russian defenses on the Oleksandrivka axis in Donbas - appeared online. The footage was published on the official Facebook page of the Command of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
For security reasons, the exact location was not disclosed. The recording shows strikes on a group of Russian troops who came under attack from drones and mortars. After a series of precise hits, Russian positions were suppressed.
According to the command, ground reconnaissance assault groups “CG132” of the 132nd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the 7th Corps of the Assault Reserve of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces breached the defensive line. During the operation, firing positions, personnel and ammunition depots of Russian units were destroyed.
The Ukrainian side said the reconnaissance units’ actions disrupted Russian plans for further offensive operations. The breakthrough created a foothold for the tactical advance of other units.
The use of drones in combination with mortar support once again underscored the effectiveness of Ukraine’s tactics against Russian fortifications, the military said.
