A Russian Defense Ministry Mi-8 helicopter was shot down overnight on March 4 in the Rostov region while air defenses were operating, the Telegram channel Astra reported, citing its own sources. Three crew members were killed.
According to Astra, the helicopter crashed onto a shed in the hamlet of Dudki in the Millerovsky district. The Mi-8 caught fire, and the shed, which belonged to a local farmer, also burned down. Local residents reported the incident, and sources in Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry confirmed it. Dudki is located about 2.5 kilometers from the Millerovo military airfield.
Rostov region Governor Yuri Slyusar said on his Telegram channel the morning of March 4 that the region came under a drone attack overnight. “Several dozen UAVs were intercepted in two districts - Millerovsky and Tarasovsky. No one was hurt. But there were consequences on the ground: as a result of drone debris falling on the territory of a resort under construction, the glazing and the entrance door of an unoccupied building were partially damaged,” Slyusar wrote. He did not mention the helicopter crash.
In late January, the Telegram channel “Strategic Aviation RF” identified likely launch points for ballistic and cruise missiles targeting Ukraine. Among the possible launch areas were the outskirts of Taganrog and Millerovo in the Rostov region.
