Western Stepnohirsk under Ukrainian control as Russia-linked channels cite tough conditions

Ukrainian forces have pushed Russian units back in the western part of Stepnohirsk, with Kyiv saying Moscow’s troops were forced to withdraw from previously held positions. At the same time, Russia-linked outlets are posting videos of strikes on residential areas they had controlled and acknowledge the situation in the sector remains difficult, according to military blogger Oleh Petrenko.

In the Hulyaipole sector, there is effectively no clear front line. The situation is described as a “layer cake”: within a strip up to six kilometers deep, Ukrainian and Russian positions are intermingled, creating a zone of constant local clashes and maneuvering.

Intense fighting continues in Zaliznychne. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces are holding positions in the western part of Hulyaipole. That is corroborated both by Ukrainian servicemembers and by footage released by Russian sources showing strikes on the area—indirectly indicating Ukraine retains control of that part of the town.

According to earlier reports, Ukrainian forces advanced near the border of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
