Ukraine’s military is “grinding down” Russia’s forces on the front lines despite ongoing mobilization and what Kyiv describes as Kremlin efforts to conceal the true scale of losses, a senior Ukrainian official said.
Mykhailo Fedorov told reporters that Russia has suffered massive losses over the past three months. Citing results from the “Army of Drones. Bonus” program, he said that from early December through March, more than 92,000 Russian troops were confirmed killed, with the vast majority struck by Ukrainian drones.
He said the mission remains straightforward: destroy more Russian forces than Moscow can mobilize.
Drones have become a “real nightmare” for Russia’s military, he said.
According to the verified figures he cited, Ukrainian forces eliminated 92,475 Russian servicemembers over three months, including 88,898 killed in UAV strikes. The remaining Russian losses were confirmed by videos of artillery strikes.
In February alone, Ukraine says it killed 27,313 Russian soldiers - an average of 975 a day - even though the month was shorter and Russian activity on the front eased. Kyiv says Russia’s army continues to be worn down on the battlefield despite ongoing mobilization and the Kremlin’s attempts to obscure casualty numbers.
Another key metric, officials said, is the number of downed Russian drones. In recent months, Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 15,438 enemy UAVs along the front line and over Ukrainian cities. For the second month in a row, Ukraine reported a record number of downed Shahed drones.
