Russia launched another mass attack on Ukraine overnight Saturday, March 7. A ballistic missile strike on the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv killed at least 11 people, including a boy and a 13-year-old girl. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), the head of the regional military administration Oleh Syniehubov, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and President Volodymyr Zelensky reported the casualties on Telegram.
Rescuers said they pulled the bodies from the rubble of a five-story residential building. Search and rescue operations are underway across a 300-square-meter area, with sappers, canine units and psychologists on site. “People may still be under the debris,” the SES said, adding that at least 10 people were injured, including two children.
In Chuhuiv, Kharkiv region, Mayor Halyna Minaieva said on Telegram that a drone strike hit a private house in the city center. “Preliminarily, two residents of Chuhuiv sustained bodily injuries,” she wrote. “Information on other casualties is being verified. Windows in neighboring houses were damaged.”
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, three districts came under a total of 20 drone and artillery attacks, killing at least one person, according to regional military administration head Oleksandr Hanzha. In the Samarskyi district, a strike hit the Hubynytska community, sparking a fire at an infrastructure facility, he said. “In the Nikopol district, Nikopol, Pokrovska and Marhanets communities came under fire. An enterprise, 20 multi-story and private houses, outbuildings, cars and solar panels were destroyed. A 48-year-old man was killed. A 69-year-old woman was wounded. In the Synelnykivskyi district, Russians struck the Pokrovska community. A house caught fire.”
The SES said Russian forces hit an infrastructure facility in Dnipropetrovsk region, triggering a large blaze. The type of facility was not specified. Some 200 rescuers and 60 units of equipment were deployed, the agency said.
Zaporizhzhia regional military administration head Ivan Fedorov said on Telegram that an infant was wounded in an overnight attack on the city. Over the past day, Russian forces carried out 760 strikes on 41 settlements across the region, including 19 airstrikes, 4 barrages from multiple launch rocket systems and 232 artillery strikes, he said. A total of 550 drones of various types were also used, according to his post. Authorities received 28 reports of damage to homes, vehicles and infrastructure.
The online outlet “Suspilne Chernivtsi” reported that the city of Novodnistrovsk in Ukraine’s Chernivtsi region lost power following the overnight attack. Earlier, Ukraine’s Air Force said on Telegram that cruise missiles were heading toward the city.
Late on March 6, the head of the Sumy City Military Administration, Serhii Kryvosheienko, said on Telegram that a drone hit an office building in the city center. “About an hour later, a residential building nearby was struck,” he added. No casualties were reported in either attack.
In Odesa and the wider Odesa region, Russia struck unspecified infrastructure facilities, according to the SES. Eighty rescuers and 20 units of equipment were deployed to extinguish fires. No further details were available at the time of publication.
