A Russian missile struck a five-story residential building in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv overnight on March 7, killing at least eight people, according to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. Two of the dead are children, and more than 10 people were injured, including three children.
The strike destroyed a stairwell from the first through the fifth floors. People remain trapped under the rubble as search-and-rescue operations continue.
Preliminary information indicates Russian forces used the newest secret missile known as Izdelie-30, prosecutors said.
Under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pretrial investigation has been launched into a war crime resulting in loss of life (Part 2, Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code).
Earlier, officials said rescuers were unable to reach people under the debris because of a fire at the impact site.
