Zelensky says Ukraine holds key defensive lines in call with Macron, urges EU to deliver €90 billion aid

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron. The two discussed the situation on the front lines, Europe’s continued support for Ukraine and broader international security.

Zelensky said Ukrainian forces achieved notable results over the winter and held all key defensive sectors. The call also focused on financial assistance for Kyiv.

He stressed the importance of implementing Europe’s pledge to provide €90 billion in support to Ukraine over the next two years, as well as adopting a new sanctions package against Russia.

The presidents also discussed developments in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, including events surrounding Iran.

Zelensky noted that France backs Kyiv’s efforts to bolster regional security, citing Ukraine’s experience countering Shahed-type attack drones.

That expertise, he said, could help shape a renewed and more effective system of collective security with international partners. Earlier, the Ukrainian president posted a video from central Druzhkivka.
