The first Ukrainian team of military experts will arrive in the Middle East as soon as next week to help Gulf countries with military know-how and share air-defense expertise.
President Volodymyr Zelensky on March 8 confirmed that the initial group from Ukraine will deploy next week to assist Gulf nations, speaking at a news conference with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, according to Suspilne.
“I think next week, when the experts are on the ground, they’ll assess and help, because they’re going with the ability to help right away,” Zelensky said.
He added that the Middle East fields many different air-defense systems, including U.S.-made Patriot systems, but they have proved insufficient against modern attacks.
Earlier, it emerged that the United States and at least one Gulf country are in talks to purchase Ukrainian interceptor drones to counter Iranian Shahed drones.
